Romford MP and newly appointed Retired Greyhound Trust trustee Andrew Rosindell showed his support for the charity's volunteers when he dropped in to find out all about their work.
Mr Rosindell paid a visit to the Trust stand at the Guides' Centenary celebrations at the Orsett Showground to meet volunteers and find out more about the work they undertake for the charity.
Pat Philpot, who runs Ockendon-based Greyhoundhomer Essex, a branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust, said: "As Mr Rosindell is a new trustee and a local Essex MP, I invited him along to find out more about the work we do on the ground. We thought it would be a great opportunity for him to meet the volunteers and speak to them in detail about the work we do in looking after the greyhounds in our kennels and how we go about finding them homes.
Mr Rosindell said: "Without these volunteers the work of the Trust would not be possible, so it was an honour to meet some of the people who make the charity tick and find out all about the hard work they undertake day in, day out.
"They are an extremely hard working and committed group of people who care passionately about finding good homes for the retired greyhounds in their care. I am looking forward to visiting the Greyhoundhomer Essex kennels in the near future and other Trust branches to see more of the great work that is taking place," he added.
The Retired Greyhound Trust is always on the lookout for volunteers to help raise funds and ensure the charity can continue its great work in caring for retired greyhounds until homes are found for them.
