Our Sunshine
You were always smiling, always happy,
always ready for fun, always waiting patiently.
We were loved in equal measure and equally that love was returned.
A pod of three our days and nights were spent together with
a soft head upon or laps or a welcome guest between our sides.
Our time was beautiful, our time was special;
We walked and talked, not forgetting the times we ran.
Our hearts burst with pride for our handsome fellow, our special find,
how proud we are to have had such a courageous boy by our side,
loved by one and all in his life.
Time to rest now our Sunshine
remember the smiles, remember the freedom of runs,
remember the showers of kisses, cuddles and hugs,
and remember forever our eternal love.

When I was an athlete on the 'Stow and Romford track,
I dreamed I would retire, get adopted and laze on my back.
My dream came true in March '09.
A cream leather settee, vacant at the time, came my way.
Now it's all mine.
I'll have my breakfast, dinner or tea,
Then it's just me,
Lying on my back,
Dreaming of the track,
On my cream leather settee.

Wilfred
My racing days are over
No need to cut a dash
My mum and dad they love me
I don't need to make them cash.
The roar of the crowd, the scent of the hare
These days of comfort I haven't a care
I live my life in luxury, running fields in country air
I really could not care less about the running hare.
I am now known as Wilfred
Which I think is pretty cute
With a sleek black coat and big brown eyes
I really am a beaut!

The Reluctant Hurdler
They think I'm clever
I think so too
Oh my, what a to do
What's that they've
Put in my way
Oh no!
I'm not that clever
At least not today

Slemish Collar is my name
Winning races was my aim
I always ran from trap to line
Hoping and wishing in the fastest time.
As long as I got back safe
To see the smile on my owners face
Eight wins from forty was the score.
My owners were there to cheer me on
To pay my way they keep me strong
Always cheered from trap to line
The first to greet me past the finishing line.
They've retired me now
Because I became too slow
They love and feed me so my coat does glow
So if you can give a loving greyhound a home
Please just pick up the Dog and Bone.

Paws!
This morning we're off to buy food
Though I'd much rather romp in the wood
I don't think it's fun
But it's got to be done
And I might get a treat if I'm good.
There's a yard just behind the Co-op
Near that pole with the flag on the top
Where we all sit in line
In the rain or sunshine
Cos they won't let us dogs in the shop.
I used to be left on the grass
Tormented by children that pass
Now I sit here content
Since I found an air vent
The warm air helps thaw out my cold ****
Er....paws!

Loving Faithful Hound
In tearful haze I cross the hall
My feelings raw and jangled
I stroke the graze upon the wall
Where once your lead was dangled.
Then through the window spy the gulls
As they dive and swoop around
And wonder if they miss you too
My loving, faithful Hound!
